DDA & OCHS Collaboration to Bring History to Life Downtown

Last Updated 3/25/2026

Ortonville’s downtown has always been rich with history. Now, thanks to a new partnership, those stories will be easier than ever to discover.

The Ortonville DDA is proud to have collaborated with the Ortonville Community Historical Society (OCHS) to continue our creation of historical markers throughout downtown. This initiative is designed to highlight the people, places, and events that have shaped Ortonville into the community it is today.

Each marker offers a glimpse into the past, sharing stories about historic buildings, longtime businesses, and significant moments in our town’s development. Whether you’ve lived here for years or are visiting for the first time, these markers will provide a new way to experience and appreciate downtown.

This partnership goes beyond preserving history, it enhances the overall downtown experience. By adding interactive and educational elements to our streetscape, we’re creating more opportunities for residents and visitors to connect with Ortonville in a meaningful way. It encourages people to slow down, explore, and engage with the character and charm that make our community unique.

Collaborations like this reflect the shared commitment of the DDA and OCHS to celebrate Ortonville’s heritage while supporting its continued growth. By honoring our past, we help build a stronger sense of identity and pride for the future.
