Introducing the Snap Match Program at the Downtown Ortonville Farmers Market

Fresh, locally grown food is some of the best food you can find. But we know that for many of our neighbors, the farmers market isn't always the most accessible place to stretch a grocery budget. That's something we've been thinking about for a while — and this season, we're doing something about it.

We're proud to introduce the Snap Match Program, a new initiative launching this summer at the Downtown Ortonville Farmers Market.

What is the Snap Match Program?

It's simple. If you use SNAP benefits, we'll match your spending at the market up to $20 every visit — free. That means if you bring $20 in SNAP benefits, you leave with $40 worth of fresh, local produce. No catch, no paperwork, no sign-up required.

Why we're doing this

We believe every neighbor deserves a seat at the farmers market table. Quality local food shouldn't be out of reach based on budget. The Snap Match Program is our way of making sure that everyone in our community — regardless of income — can access the same fresh food that makes our market special.

And the impact goes both ways. When SNAP dollars are spent at our market, they go directly to the local farmers and vendors who grow and produce the food. Your match dollars stay right here in our community, supporting the people who work hard to bring you the best of what our region grows.

How it works

When you arrive at the market, stop by the info booth as you normally would to collect your SNAP tokens. Let us know you'd like to participate in Snap Match and we'll add bonus match tokens — up to $20 worth — that you can spend at any approved vendor in the market, just like your regular tokens.

The Downtown Ortonville Farmers Market runs June through September, every market day from 9am to 1pm, downtown Ortonville on Mill St. We'd love to see you there.
