Hometown Heroes Banner Program Gives Back to Local Veterans
The Ortonville Downtown Development Authority (DDA) unanimously voted to make a $1,000 contribution to the Ortonville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), demonstrating its continued commitment to honoring those who have served our country. The donation will come from funds raised through the 2026 Light Pole Banner Program, which celebrates local Hometown Heroes by recognizing the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
The Hometown Heroes banner program provides a meaningful way for the Ortonville community to recognize veterans and their sacrifices while adding a personal touch to the village streets. By directing a portion of the program's proceeds to the Ortonville VFW, the DDA is extending the program's mission beyond the banners themselves and supporting an organization dedicated to serving veterans and their families.
The unanimous vote reflects the DDA's shared commitment to preserving Ortonville's strong sense of community and patriotism. The contribution is a tangible way to give back to those who have given so much, while ensuring the spirit of the Hometown Heroes program continues to make a positive impact. Through partnerships like this, Ortonville can continue to honor its veterans, support local organizations, and recognize the individuals whose service has helped protect the freedoms we enjoy today.
