Help Shape Oakland County’s Tourism Economy — Be Part of the Conversation!

Last Updated 5/24/2025

Ortonville residents, business owners, nonprofits, and community leaders — your voice is needed! Oakland County’s Department of Economic Development is inviting YOU to participate in shaping the future of tourism across the region. Two upcoming interactive, in-person workshops are being held in June to gather input on how we can build a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable visitor economy—one that reflects the unique stories and strengths of our towns, including Ortonville.

🗓 Workshop Dates & Locations

  • Monday, June 16 / 6:00-8:00 PM

📍 Sundquist Farmington Pavilion
33113 Grand River Avenue, Farmington

🔍 What You’ll Do

Participants will explore:
  • What makes Oakland County stand out as a destination
  • How to better tell our story to visitors -- whether from Metro Detroit, the Midwest, or across the globe
  • Ways to connect events, downtowns, and natural spaces more meaningfully
  • Creative strategies for coordinating and funding tourism efforts across communities.

You'll also have the opportunity to review the current Destination Diagnostic Report, which includes survey results, community feedback, and insights into Oakland County’s tourism landscape.

🧠 This is a hands-on chance to make a difference — and your perspective from a community like Ortonville is essential!
